The Land
Our LandExtremadura is in the Southeast of Spain.
It is an autonomous community with an area of 41,633 square kilometres, distributed between the provinces of Badajoz and Cáceres, which are the provinces with the largest areas in Spain. It has a Mediterranean climate and agriculture is still one of its main means of sustenance.
The region of La Serena is in the province of Badajoz and has about 400,000 sheep in its pastures. The indigenous breed is Merino sheep, which are characterised by their great ability to adapt to the natural environment. The cheeses and Tortas of this protected denomination of origin are the only ones in Spain to be made solely with raw milk from Merino sheep flocks.
